Friday, November 15, 2024, will be a P.A. Day in York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) elementary and secondary schools.
In accordance with the Ministry of Education’s Regulation 304, “School Year Calendar, Professional Activity Days,” the YCDSB is providing the following summary of staff activities for the P.A. Day on Friday, November 15, 2024.
Parent-Teacher Interviews
At the elementary and secondary levels, parent-teacher interviews will be available in the morning. Schools will provide information on booking an interview at a later date.
Cybersecurity and Online Privacy Awareness
Elementary staff will receive interactive “Cyber Security Essentials” learning modules covering topics such as phishing awareness, data protection, physical security and security best practices.
Curriculum and De-streaming
At the secondary level, staff will participate in topics including:
- De-streamed English course
- The new de-streamed Grade 9 Geography course
- Grades 9-10 Business Studies curriculum
- Supporting ongoing implementation of de-streamed Grade 9 courses
- Ongoing implementation of recently revised curriculum
- Grades 9-10 Technological Education curriculum
- Mental health literacy updates to the Grade 10 Career Studies course
- Making connections to skilled trades, transferable skills and apprenticeship
- Connections between guidance counsellors and local employers/labour market with a focus on high-demand economic sectors
Self-directed Professional Learning
Elementary and secondary staff will also have the opportunity to undergo self-directed professional learning.
